50 Cordillera cops enhance investigation skills

BANGUED, Abra (PIA) -- Fifty police officers from the different provinces in the region developed better investigating capabilities after completing the Investigation Officer Basic Course (IOBC) .

“The Investigation Officers Basic Course is an endeavor of the Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management (DIDM) in addressing the needs for a standard system of education for investigation. It is designed in improving and keeping the investigating capability of the police force amidst the changing trends in crime,” explained Guest of Honor and Speaker Assistant Secretary Adrian Carlos Bersamin of the Executive Secretary represented by Police Regional Office Cordillera Director PBGen. David K. Peredo  during the closing ceremony of the IOBC on August 17, 2023 at the Abra Police Provincial Office in Calaba, Bangued.

 The commissioned police officers who completed the course  received their IOBC pins, certificates and awards.

Top graduate PCpt. Franklin Jay Q. Aquisio received the Medalya ng Kasanayan while PCpt. Davy Alilies and PMaj. Darriel Baclili  were awarded   the Medalya ng Papuri as Class Top 2 and Top 3 graduates, respectively.

Also  awarded  were  PMaj. Armando Hiquiana who served as Class President and PMaj. Joey Babida as Class Marcher.

“After this investigation course, we realized a lot of things and from this, we challenge ourselves to be true investigators who will continue to follow proper techniques and procedure in conducting crime scene processing,” Aquisio said.

Peredo thanked Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin for sponsoring the IOBC program that will help the police force deliver better services especially on  crime prevention.

 “This Investigation Course is the most important tool of the police. Police lang ang inaasahang mag-imbestiga aside from the NBI. This is also a testament of the job of the police which is crime prevention. Crime prevention pa din ang pagiging magaling na imbestigador,” he emphasized.

 The 50 police graduates are expected to use their investigating knowledge and skills to improve crime solution and clearance efficiency.

The IOBC Completion Ceremony was also attended by Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division Chief PCol. Charles Domallig, Regional Intelligence Division Chief PCol. George Buyacao Jr., Abra PPO Director PCol. Froiland Lopez, Regional Special Training Unit OIC PLtCol. Arnold Dugas, and Regional Learning and Doctrine Development Division Assistant Chief PLtCol.
