QUEZON CITY, (PIA) -- Starting on Monday, Aug. 21, motorcycle riders caught using the bike lanes along Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) will be fined.

In a Facebook post by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Sunday, Aug. 20, it said that ignoring traffic signs carries a fine of P1,000.

According to the MMDA, cyclists cannot use the bike lanes on EDSA due to the large number of motorcycles using them.

The bike lane is not a fast lane for motorcycles. The bicycle lane is intended for cyclists or those riding bicycles, not for motorcycle riders,” insisted the MMDA.

"Disregarding a traffic sign is a violation that carries a P1,000 fine," the MMDA posted. (PIA-NCR)
