DepEd cites stakeholders joining Brigada Eskwela

SAN JOSE, Antique (PIA) --The Department of Education (DepEd) here acknowledged the huge support of various stakeholders during the Brigada Eskwela to ensure that schools are ready for the opening of classes.

Schools Division Superintendent Nicasio S. Frio during the launching program of Brigada Eskwela for the school year 2023-2024 recently, emphasized the important role of stakeholders in making sure the schools and their facilities are conducive to learning.

Among the supporters present during the launching program are the different partner banking institutions, cooperatives, owners of restaurants, and accommodation facilities, local officials, volunteers from national government agencies, parents and private individuals committed to support the welfare of children.

School principal Demosthenes P. Aliste of Delegate Angel Salazar Jr. Memorial School in San Jose de Buenavista likewise expressed gratitude to all the stakeholders volunteering every year.

Aliste particularly mentioned the parents who used to volunteer for the cleanup drive, the private companies who provided paints and cleaning agents, and the government agencies who offered help for the painting and minor repairs of classrooms and other facilities.

He, however, appealed for the prioritization of classrooms to be constructed in schools with big student populations and in remote areas to ensure the safety of students and the classrooms to be conducive to learning.


“Some schools have makeshift classrooms and are not conducive to learning especially during unfavorable weather conditions, thus, there is a need to prioritize the new classrooms for them,” added Aliste.

Likewise, Police Major Geremy Ian Magbanua of San Jose de Buenavista Police Station also reported the participation of the police officers in various schools for the cleanup drive.

He also expressed the readiness of the police force to deploy their personnel to support the DepEd in ensuring the safe and smooth opening of the school year 2023-2024.


The DepEd also lauded the support of Antique Lone’s District Representative Antonio Agapito and Senator Loren Legarda for making the Division of Antique one of the recipients of Starlink Internet installed in different schools in the province.

Moreover, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) as well reported support for the Brigada Eskwela program in various schools in Antique.
