CATARMAN, Northern Samar (PIA) -- In line with the celebration of the National Crime Prevention Week, various national agencies, local government units particularly barangays Daganas and Dalakit participated in a coastal clean-up drive on Thursday, September 7, at Barangay Dalakit, this municipality.
In a short program held after the clean-up drive, Provincial Director Geraldine Maquelabit of the Department of the Interior and Local Govenment - Northern Samar, challenged the local officials and the people to exert efforts in maintaining a clean environment.
"We end this crime prevention week with loving our nature because loving our nature would also imply loving our fellowmen," Maguelabit said.
Police Provincial Director Alfredo Tadefa also expressed his gratitude for the unwavering support, commitment, and unity showed by different agencies in the crime prevention advocacy.
He added that despite the PNP being the foremost institution mandated and responsible for crime prevention, the support and collaborative efforts of everyone in the community is still needed to attain and maintain a peaceful community.
Spearheaded by DILG, this year's NCPW theme centered on "Addressing Crime and Advancing Crime Prevention at the Local, National, and Global Levels."
Present during the clean up activity were teams from DILG, PNP, BFP, AFP, BJMP, PCG, PGNS, officials of barangays Daganas and Dalakit, and the Philippine Information Agency. (MMP/ADiaz/PIA-Northern Samar)
