350 fisherfolk receive fuel assistance from DOLE in Carrascal town

CARRASCAL, Surigao del Sur – Some 350 fisherfolk in Carrascal, Surigao del Sur received fuel assistance from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on September 15, 2022.

The beneficiaries are members of the registered fishery organizations of Carrascal town  and each received eight (8) liters of special gasoline to support  the fishing operations from DOLE.

The said program is funded through the DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP), which seeks to reduce poverty and vulnerability to risks of the working poor, vulnerable, and marginalized workers through emergency employment and promotion of entrepreneurship and community enterprises.

Meanwhile, the strategy implemented according to the Municipal Agriculture Office is also a continuous effort of the LGU that aside from providing them the fishing gear, fuel is also essential to reduce their expenses while operating legally within the municipal waters of Carrascal town.
