AFP Joint Exercise DAGITPA 2022 officially kicks off

Camp General Artemio Ricarte, Puerto Princesa City -- Team Western Command led by its Commander, Vice Admiral Alberto B. Carlos PN, participated in the Opening Ceremony of AFP Joint Exercise (AJEX) DAGITPA 2022 via virtual platform.

The official kick-off of the 6th Iteration of the AJEX DAGITPA was held on 07 November at Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo, Quezon City with the Chief of Staff AFP, LtGen. Bartolome Vicente Bacarro PA as the Guest of Honor and Speaker.

DAGITPA stands for Dagat, Langit at Lupa which entails the participation of the three major services of the AFP-- the Navy, Air Force and Army as employed in joint operations.

Team WESCOM, as primary training audience in this year's exercise, participates in the four (4) major events namely: Table Top Exercise (TTX), Staff Exercise (STAFFEX), and Cyber Defense Exercise (CYDEX), all being conducted in Camp General Artemio Ricarte in Puerto Princesa, and the Field Training Exercises (FTX).

The FTX events in the Province of Palawan are the Amphibious Landing Exercise scheduled on November 14 in Brooke's Point, and the Combined Arms and Littoral Live Fire Exercise to be held on November 15 in the Municipality of Rizal.

"The AJEX DAGITPA will enhance WESCOM's capacity and capability in addressing crisis situation in its Joint Operations Area, and be able to operate with other units as One AFP," said Vice Admiral Carlos.

"Equally important in this year's exercise is the strengthening of the active participation of other government agencies as we pursue the whole-of-nation approach in addressing al levels of internal and external threats to national security," Vice Admiral Carlos added. (WESCOM)
