The Philippine Information Agency aims to disseminate information about government programs, projects, and services to the Filipino public, with the final goal of improving their quality of life, thus empowering them to participate in the country’s democratic processes.

As the only government information network that can reach the grassroots—spanning 16 regional offices and 78 provincial information centers—PIA is the country’s chief information arm with expertise in development communication.

PIA also serves as a public relations firm for specific communication campaigns as requested by agencies under the Office of the President, national government agencies, local government units, government-owned and controlled corporations (GOCCs), government financial institutions (GFIs), special inter-agency committees/councils and government task forces, among others.




The Philippine Information Agency is the official public information arm of the Government of the Philippines, formed by virtue of Executive Order No. 100, s. 1986. E.O. No. 4, s. 2010 placed the PIA as an attached agency of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO).

Led by the Director-General, the PIA works with the Office of the President through PCOO, national government agencies, and other public sector entities in communicating and explaining their programs, projects, and services to the Filipino people.

The Philippine Information Agency (PIA) provides accurate, timely, and relevant information to enable citizens to participate in and benefit from government programs that would uplift their quality of life. It plans and implements communication and advocacy programs of national scope and assists other government agencies in the communication component of their programs through multimedia strategies.

Division and Functions

Office of the Director-General

The Director-General provides overall direction, supervision, and management of all programmatic and operational functions of the Agency. Regional heads and Division Chiefs report directly to the Director-General.

This office provides strong secretariat support functions to the Director-General serving units and divisions from the central office, regional and provincial offices and all operating units.

Creative and Production Services Division

CPSD’s main function is the conceptualization and development of message themes, storylines, scripts, storyboards and texts needed for media production as well as the production of indigenous, print, broadcast, film and e-media materials for interpersonal or mass dissemination. The division also provides editorial content of all Agency communication platforms and manages the official social media accounts and website.

Planning and Communication Research Division

The PCRD spearheads the review, analysis, and evaluation of communication-related policies for the Agency and its clients; conducts communication research studies for policy development, programs and project planning, and content management; and provides technical assistance in the monitoring and evaluation of communication programs and projects.

Program Management Division

The PMD is in charge of planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of programs, projects and activities on public information and communications, including advertisement of government agencies and instrumentalities. It represents the Agency in inter-agency meetings; markets and promotes PIA services and in the process establishes and builds networks and alliances.

Management Information Systems Division

The MISD takes care of the development and maintenance of ICT systems and databases including library and audio-visual archives to aid the PIA head in decision-making and in dealing with its clientele.

Regional Operations Division

The ROD provides regional operations secretariat support and ensures proper facilitation of the communication flow between the central office and the regions; recommends regional policies and developmental programs in the creation of Government Information Centers (GICs) and handling regional network management; and oversees information processing and data management of the Agency in close collaboration with relevant divisions.

Human Resources Development Division

The HRDD works for the development and implementation of human resource development programs and projects for the employees of the PIA and the information offices of its client agencies. Management of the Agency's Merit and Selection Plan, Promotion, Performance Evaluation, Rewards and Payroll benefits.

Administrative Division

Admin Division provides the Agency with general administrative support services to include property and supply, motor pool, building and maintenance, records and audio-visual communication.

Finance and Management Division

FMD is in charge of the conduct of study and development of standards on organization staffing, work processes, reporting systems and control, and resource allocation; and conduct of study and analysis as well as provision of recommendation on the existing organization and management improvement in the agency.

Regional Offices and Provincial Centers

RO and Provincial Infocenters are in charge of planning, implementation and evaluation of the region's work programs in accordance with the Agency priority thrusts and directives in the following program areas/core services:

IEC production and dissemination, communication research, institutional development (networking/alliance building and capability building) and support to Presidential Visits.
