QUEZON CITY -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) expressed its gratitude to the United Nations-World Food Programme (UN-WFP) for providing logistical support to deliver relief items to local government units (LGUs) affected by various weather disturbances that affected the country this January.
According to the DSWD National Resource and Logistics Management Bureau (NRLMB), the UN-WFP assisted in the hauling and delivery of food and non-food items to the local government units (LGUs) affected by the shearlines and Low Pressure Areas (LPAs) in various areas in Mindanao.
In Region IX, about 27,000 Family Food Packs (FFPs), 8,500 hygiene kits, 2,500 kitchen kits, 25,000 pieces of regular slotted cartons, and 40,000 pieces of 3-kilo rice bags were delivered through the assistance of UN-WFP trucks.
Meanwhile, 8,500 boxes of FFPs, 86 kitchen kits, and 1,000 sleeping kits were augmented in affected localities in CARAGA region through the UN-WFP trucks.
Through the help of the UN-WFP, some 15,300 FFPs, 3,000 hygiene kits, 2,000 kitchen kits, 280 family tents, and 2,000 sleeping kits were delivered to Region X.
Aside from the UN-WFP, the Department also extended it gratitude to the members of the Logistics Cluster of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) headed by the Office of Civil Defense (OCD), for immediately mobilizing their assets and personnel to ensure that all areas affected by weather disturbances will immediately receive relief items.
