Healing the planet starts with us.
The Philippines is one of the countries most vulnerable to climate change risk according to Fitch’s Climate Change Physical Risk Exposure Heatmap rankings in 2021.
Climate change events including higher temperatures, intense droughts, storms, floods, rising sea levels, and annual losses in GDP, all pose a great threat to the country.
Thus, in order to adapt and mitigate climate change, the Climate Change Commission (CCC) in April 2021, committed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 75% by 2030, from a target of 70% set four years before, as part of its commitment to the Paris Agreement on Climate Change.
This year, the celebration of Global Warming and Climate Change Consciousness Week is anchored on the theme, ‘Sama-Samang Tumutugon sa Hamon ng Nagbabagong Klima.’
Together, let’s continue to help the earth survive. Because unless we find ways to be part of the climate solution, we will not be able to thwart the worst consequences of climate change.
