With the concerted efforts of both the private and government sector the quest to provide accountability for SIM Card users and to intensify the law enforcement in tracking perpetrators of crimes committed through the use of digital gadgets and phones, the Sim Card Registration was created.

Last December 12, 2022, the National Telecommunications Commission released the rules and regulations of the SIM Card Registration Act. The registration will start on December 27, 2022 where the different telcos will be in charge of maintaining the database.

Since the law was enacted last October 2022, All subscribers will have 180 days from the effectivity of the law to register their SIM cards. The registration may be extended by up to 120 days.
