Today, as the International Day of Remembrance and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism, we unite to honor the lives lost and the countless individuals affected by acts of terrorism worldwide. As we remember their stories, let us stand together in solidarity and strive for a future free from violence and fear.
In the Philippines, several terrorist groups pose significant threats to the nation's security. Abu Sayyaf, the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters, and Jemaah Islamiyah continue to sow discord and cause harm. Additionally, affiliated groups linked to ISIS remain a formidable force, representing a persistent terrorism threat in the country.
Furthermore, the Anti-Terrorism Council (ATC) has identified 16 underground organizations associated with the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People's Army (CPP-NPA) as terrorist groups. Their activities contribute to the overall atmosphere of insecurity and unrest.
On this important day, let us raise awareness about the impacts of terrorism and strive to create a safer world for all. Together, we can build communities where peace, tolerance, and respect prevail, ensuring that the victims of terrorism are never forgotten.
