CLARK FREEPORT ZONE (PIA) -- Clark Development Corporation (CDC) Smart City project proposal tops the evaluation for the K-City Network 2021 Smart City Development Planning grant competition. 

CDC’s proposal, entitled “The Clark Smart City Complex: Urban Development Project”, bested 110 other entries from 39 countries submitted to the Korean Ministry of Land Infrastructure and Transportation (MOLIT). 

CDC President and CEO Manuel Gaerlan said he received an initial notice from the Office of the Director General for Urban Policy of the MOLIT regarding the result of the evaluation. 

“Topping the entries, we are set to receive a US$600K grant which we will use in planning for the implementation of the Smart City in Clark. It will fund the review of the CDC masterplan and the drafting of a feasibility study and business plan. The project is set to start in August 2021,” Gaerlan said.

For his part, CDC Corporate Planning Manager Architect Tarcisius Tiotuyco said the project will be implemented in phases, targeting a 104-hectare prime property for its first phase.

“Afterwards, the project shall include all six districts of the 4,000-hectare Clark Freeport Zone and the airport area under the Clark International Airport Corporation,” he said. 

Clark Smart City project is the first of its kind in the country and a model for future developments in the Clark Special Economic Zone and adjoining provinces. (CLJD/MJSC-PIA 3)
