Barangay in Marawi benefits from a new health station

MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)--Constituents of Barangay Rorogagus here including internally displaced families staying at the Rorogagus Transitional Shelter can now benefit and enjoy the use of the newly constructed P2.5 million Barangay Health Station (BHS).

The BHS located in Rorogagus East was constructed under the Marawi Recovery, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Program with the Bangsamoro government's Ministry of Health (MOH) as the implementing agency.

MOH Minister Bashary Latiph together with Task Force Bangon Marawi chairperson Secretary Eduardo Del Rosario turned over the BHS and medical equipment and supplies to the city government on Wednesday, June 23, to augment its efforts in addressing the health care needs of residents.

Latiph cited the inauguration of the Rorogagus BHS as a milestone in the realization of endeavors in attaining optimum health and wellness for the Bangsamoro people.

He said it is one of the 23 BHS projects that will be implemented by the Ministry in line with the rehabilitation of Marawi. Apart from these, two Rural Health Units will also be constructed.

"Ang ating mga kababayan dito sa Rorogagus ay hindi na sila mahihirapan upang pumunta sa malalayong RHU o hospital at mayroon na silang nakalaan na BHS upang kung mayroon sila ng pangangailangan sa kanilang kalusugan ay mayroong titingin sa kanila dito," he said.

[Our constituents here in Rorogagus will no longer find it difficult to go to distant RHUs or hospitals as they already have BHS available here to cater to their healthcare needs, there is someone here who will look after them.]

Meanwhile, Del Rosario said the inauguration of the Rorogagus BHS is another breakthrough undertaken by both the national government, the Bangsamoro government, and the local government unit of Marawi to ensure that health services and the health needs of the people of Marawi are given utmost importance.

He said about 25 health facilities will be constructed in the less affected area of Marawi. For the most affected area, 24 barangay complexes are now being constructed. These complexes, he said, also have a health center and a madrasah.

The TFBM chief is optimistic that with the health facilities, utmost quality health care will be availed of by residents as healthy constituents contribute to a progressive community. (APB/PIA-10/ICIC/Lanao deo Sur)
