Road, bridge projects to ease traffic congestion in Marawi

MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA) -- Various road and bridge projects in this city are seen to ease traffic congestion.

This, after the government recently inaugurated the newly reconstructed Lilod Guimba Bridge along Barangay Kurmatan-Matampay road using funds from National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management – Marawi Recovery, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Program (NDRRM-MRRRP).

“This completed bridge is considered with a high impact volume considering it reduces both traffic congestion in the city and traveling time of motorists coming from 1st district of LDS that is Basak area moving towards Lanao del Norte province,” said Department of Public Works and Highways District Engineer Omar Diron.

During an inter-agency meeting of Task Force Bangon Marawi, DPWH reported that the construction of the two-Lane Portland Cement Concrete Pavement Pantar, Lanao del Norte to Marawi City, Lanao del Sur is substantially completed.

DPWH also implemented the 18.97-kilometer Marawi Transcentral Road Project with a grant from the Government of Japan thru the Japan International Cooperation Agency.

The rehabilitation of the 2.85 kilometer section of the Maul Lumbaca Ingud - Ranao Ranao Alternate Bypass Road in Maul, Marantao, Lanao del Sur is already completed.

Inside the most affected area, the Banggolo and Mapandi Bridge has been rehabilitated and improved while ongoing refurbishment of Pumping bridge still continues.
