BAGUIO CITY (PIA) - - The rollout of the Coronavirus disease vaccination program is getting much support from the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center(BGHMC) with 90.4 percent of  its  employees already  fully vaccinated  against COVID-19.

BGHMC Health Education and Promotion Officer III Ashley Melecio, in a PIA Cordillera- led Kapihan media forum here, reported  that as of June 20,   2,532  employees representing  90.4%  of the hospital workforce  already completed their two doses  of COVID – 19 vaccines  while 165  are waiting for the schedule of their second dose.

Of the vaccinated employees, 1,677 received   Sinovac vaccine   while 855   got AstraZeneca vaccine. There was no major adverse effect following immunization monitored or recorded.

The hospital administration is continuously encouraging its remaining unvaccinated employees to submit themselves for vaccination, Melecio said.

There is also an ongoing master listing of the qualified family members of the vaccinated employees in preparation for the release of guidelines for their vaccination as directed by the Inter – Agency Task Force against COVID – 19.

BGHMC Medical Officer IV Dr. Thea Pamela Cajulao said the vaccination program will     give  added protection to  their employees  as the hospital serves  as the referral center for COVID – 19 for Cordillera Administrative Region.  A tertiary  training referral hospital with specialty services, it caters   not only to CAR but to   neighboring provinces as well.

For COVID – 19 case management, Cajulao   shared that BGHMC already admitted 2,453 patients since last year. Currently, there are  92   patients-  nine   mild cases, 32 moderate, 44   severe and seven are critical cases. At present, BGHMC has 247 bed capacity set for COVID – 19

Through the leadership of  Center Director Dr. Ricardo Ruñez, BGHMC is continuously updating its contingency plan for possible surge in cases. (JDP/CCD-PIA CAR)
