TARLAC CITY (PIA) -- About 160 households in San Clemente, Tarlac received food packs and slippers from National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) and Army 3rd Mechanized Infantry Battalion (3rd Mech).
This is in line with the information awareness campaign of NCIP to the Indigenous Peoples (IP) community in sitio Dueg, barangay Maasin.
NCIP Commissioner Rolando Rivera discussed Indigenous Peoples Rights Act of 1997.
"We are performing our mandate in an effort to eliminate the reasons the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF) use in deceiving the minds of our IPs," Rivera said.
Meanwhile, 3rd Mech also distributed information education materials regarding Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program of the government which provides benefits for the members of CPP-NPA-NDF who will return to the folds of law.
For his part, 3rd Mech Commander Lieutenant Colonel Eugene Henry Cabusao lauded the efforts of NCIP for initiating to extend the programs of the government to the Indigenous Peoples community of San Clemente. (CLJD/Gabriela Liana S. Barela-PIA 3)
