Manila launches Mega COVID-19 Field Hospital

CALOOCAN CITY, (PIA) -- The City Government of Manila on has launched its Mega COVID-19 Field Hospital located at the Rizal Park’s Burnham Green.

The facility was completed within 52 days, way ahead of the city’s original completion target of 60 days.

The 344-bed field hospital is dedicated for mild and moderate COVID-19 cases. It is equipped with television, internet and air conditioning.

In his message during the event, Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso thanked the 362 construction workers who built the facility.

Meanwhile, Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea noted that the field hospital will help in the government’s efforts to decongest hospitals in the area, while preventing COVID-19 patients from waiting for longer hours before getting admitted.

Present at the inauguration were Manila Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna, National Task Force against COVID-19 Chief Implementer and Vaccine Czar Secretary Carlito G. Galvez, Jr, NTF against COVID-19 Deputy Chief Implementer and testing czar Secretary Vince Dizon, Health Secretary Francisco Duque III, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority Chairman Benhur Abalos, Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission Chairman Greco Belgica, and Senator Christopher “Bong” Go.
