CALOOCAN CITY, (PIA) -- The City Government of Navotas has lifted the Monday closure of public markets, grocery stores, and talipapas for scheduled disinfection earlier.

Mayor Toby Tiangco signed Executive Order 139 Series of 2021 allowing public markets, grocery stores, and talipapas to operate daily except every 1 to 3 p.m. on Mondays.

“Our COVID cases are decreasing that’s why we are easing some restrictions. However, we need to continue to be careful especially now that our country has confirmed cases of the Delta variant,” Tiangco noted.

“While we shortened the disinfection hours, we expect operators and vendees to follow and enforce public health protocols, and conduct daily disinfection,” Mayor Toby added.

Tiangco warned that failure to conduct clean up activities at the indicated schedule may lead to the re-imposition of disinfection day.

“We need to be vigilant lest we risk losing the gains we have achieved in our fight against COVID-19,” he said.

As of June 26, Navotas recorded 11,003 cases. Of this number, 43 are active, 371 died, and 10,589 have recovered. (PIO/PIA NCR)
