CALOOCAN CITY, (PIA) -- In celebration of Pride Month, at least 50 LGBTQ+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer) community members in Manila on Monday each received a free bicycle, cellphone, and P5,000 worth of load.
Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso and Vice-Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan led the distribution of the donations.
“Kaya itong mga kasamahan natin, mga kababayan nating bekshi ng Maynila, I’m happy and I hope they will earn a decent living, thanks to the private sector,” Mayor Isko Moreno said.
The project dubbed as, “BEKSHIEKLETA” is also part of the celebration of the 450th anniversary of the city.
Domagoso also thanked Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Silvestre Bello III, Undersecretary Benjo Santos Benavidez, NCR-RD Atty. Sarah Buena Mirasol, Dir. Warren Miclat and MFO Dir. Ma. Corazon Pepito for their generous donations to the city.
"We are very grateful to the Department of Labor and Employment led by Secretary Silvestre Bello III together with USec Benjo Santos Benavidez, NCR-RD Atty. Sarah Buena Mirasol, Dir. Warren Miclat and MFO Dir. Mom. Corazon Pepito for the 50 bicycles, 50 android cellphone and 50 P5,000 worth of load for our beneficiaries."
The DILEEP or DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program is one of the many programs of the said department that they implement not only in Manila City but in the whole Philippines.
The beneficiaries will also be part of the “PandaBIZikleta” which was launched on June 9 that provided free bicycles to freelance delivery riders in the city.
"Also our thanks to Food Panda Philippines for their PandaBIZekleta," he added.
The city government had earlier inked an agreement with FoodPanda Philippines to provide job opportunities to residents in the city. (PIA NCR)
