CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga (PIA) --The provincial government continues to boost the agriculture sector with the groundbreaking of a two-storey Agricultural Extension Research and Farm Mechanization Building of the Provincial Agricultural Services(OPAS) and blessing of farm machineries on Monday(June 28).
Governor Ferdinand Tubban led the ground breaking with Bishop Prudencio Andaya, Jr. of the Apostolic Vicariate of Tabuk officiating the ceremonial rites.
The building which will rise at the OPAS Compound at Purok 6, Bulanao in this city, will centralize all extensions of OPAS such as research, production, engineering and the administrative division, Provincial Agriculturist Domingo Bakilan said. Its Phase I will cost about P1.9 million for the foundation and floor slabbing.
Governor Ferdinand Tubban said the office will not only for employees but for farmers, too. With agriculture as the backbone of development of the province, agricultural services will improve with this new facility.
“We will do our best to provide not only OPAS, but all offices with funds to readily render service to the public”, Tubban said. This shows that the province is true to its “Shared Governance” advocacy.

Vice Governor Dave Odiem congratulated the men and women behind this project. He is optimistic that this will inspire OPAS personnel to be efficient and make public service faster.
Meanwhile, Bishop Andaya also blessed the farm machineries that were provided to OPAS.
Also present to witness the twin events were Vice Governor Dave Odiem, Board Members Antonio Bakilan and Pio Saga-oc, PLGU department heads and OPAS personnel. (JDP/PAB-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
