DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, July 1 (PIA) -- Dumaguete City has received an additional shipment of 10,000 vials of COVID-19 vaccines from the national government on June 30 to help accelerate the inoculation of eligible city residents.
This is the second shipment of COVID-19 vaccines as a follow-up to the first shipment of 10,000 vials on June 4.
City Health Officer Dr. Maria Sarah Talla said that as of June 30, some 8,209 city residents under A1 (medical frontliners), A2 (senior citizens), and A3 (persons with co-morbidities) categories were already vaccinated based on the order of priority of the Department of Health.
The COVID-19 vaccination for A2 and A3 continues in two different sites from Monday to Saturday.
Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo thanked Pres. Rodrigo Duterte, Sen. Christopher "Bong" Go, and Vaccine Czar Sec. Carlito Galvez Jr., for approving the latest shipment.
Remollo said these vaccines will also help achieve herd immunity even as the local authorities are trying to contain the spread of coronavirus. (JCT/PIA Negros Oriental)
