CALOOCAN CITY, (PIA) -- The Manila City Government on Thursday opened, the second home for senior citizens being housed and taken care of at Manila Boystown.
Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso and Department of Social Welfare Director Re Fugoso were present during the turn-over ceremony of the “Seniors Home No. 2” from Rotary Club of Manila Bay.
Domagoso said the facility will be a “center of love and care” to city government’s adopted senior citizens.
"Yung mga 'client' natin sa pasilidad na ito ay kailangan ng (our clients in this facility need) extra understanding, extra care, extra compassion because they were deprived of love, sad to say. So, Let this be the center of love and care,” Domagoso said.
“Ipapakita namin sa inyo ang pamamahala 'di lang sa salita. May awa ang Diyos, hangga't nandito tayo may magmamalasakit sa inyong pamahalaan,” he added. (We will exhibit governance not limited to words alone. If God wills it, as long as we are here, there will be those looking after you in the government.)
Present during the turn-over ceremonies were Rotary Club of Manila Bay president Arch. Fred Sibug, president-elect Joel Ferrer, Rotary Club of Siheung representative Richard Song, and Rotary Club Manila Bay representatives Roberto Estebanlar and Mark Dayrit
According to Sibug, three more facilities will be built at Manila Boystown under their organization.
In response, Domagoso thanked their group for its support to the city’s efforts to care for senior citizens who have been abandoned or are homeless.
"Gusto kong maiparamdam sa mga matatanda na meron pa silang halaga sa mundo," Domagoso said. (I would like our senior citizens to experience that they are still being valued on this earth.) (MPIO/PIA-NCR)
