Dgte CHO: Private doctors, nurses welcome to help in vax drive

DUMAGUETE CITY, June 26 (PIA) -- Dumaguete City has vaccinated 7,286 eligible residents as of June 25 as thousands of individuals are still waiting for their turn.

In view of this, the Dumaguete City Health Office (CHO) is open to accepting help from private doctors and nurses who are willing to volunteer in the various vaccination sites in the city.

This is to accommodate more eligible residents to be inoculated from COVID-19 on a daily basis.

CHO is currently vaccinating A2 senior citizens and A3 persons with comorbidities who have registered both online and through their barangays in two vaccination posts.

City Health Officer Dr. Sarah Talla said more vaccination posts will be opened soon in addition to the current venues that are already operating.

The city government will be appealing directly to the national government for more COVID-19 vaccines.

City Public Information Officer Kathy Aguilar said each vaccination team assigned in the post shall have a physician, nurse or midwife who will be in charge of screening and assessment and one allied professional or volunteer for health education.

This also includes a doctor, nurse, or midwife who will vaccinate and two health workers or volunteers from partner agencies who will document and take vital signs in each vaccination site, Aguilar said. (JCT/PIA Negros Oriental)
