CATARMAN, Northern Samar (PIA) -- The Municipality of Allen in Northern Samar ranked 5th nationwide in terms of economic dynamism for the 5th and 6th class municipalities during the recently held cities and municipalities competitive index 2020 conducted by the Department of Trade and Industry.
This was learned from DTI Provincial Director Mimosa Regis during the PIA’s radio program Huruhimangraw sa Panginudto recently.
The provincial director said that Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI) is an annual ranking survey conducted to assess the competitiveness of cities and municipalities across the country which aims to improve local competitiveness among participating local government units.
According Regis, economic dynamism is an indication of how well the municipality has made itself attractive to investors and expanded business opportunities in the area.
Regis said the significant drivers of economic dynamism are road network, availability of basic utilities, health, accommodation capacity, financial technology capacity, and information technology capacity.
The LGU must assess itself along the indicators that are considered significant drivers of competitiveness and should focus its development efforts, policies and programs to enhance the identified significant drivers of economic dynamism to attract more businesses, said Regis.
CMCI's four pillars are based on economic dynamism, government efficiency, infrastructure, and resiliency. (NBQ/TBC/PIA-8/Northern Samar)
