NCMF, Yes for Peace give free eye check-up, eyeglasses

MANILA, (PIA) -- At least 200 Muslim Filipinos received free eye checkup and eyeglasses courtesy of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) in partnership with Yes for Peace Bayanihan ng Bayan (YFP-BNB).

The service, made possible through the Office of Commissioner and YFP-BNB Secretary General Yusoph J. Mando in cooperation with the NCMF Occupational Safety and Health Committee, conducted free computerized eye checkup and gave out free imported double vision and reading glasses over the weekend at the NCMF Central Office Social Hall.

“Seeing our NCMF colleagues and fellow Muslims smile as we help them care for their eyes is more than enough to uplift our spirits and encourage us to keep it going," Comm. Mando said.

Most of the beneficiaries were provided with free eyeglasses of their choice.

Dr Catalino Jadoc, assisted by his wife Dr. Marge Jadoc, YFP BNB KaBayanihans and coordinators in Region 8, run various tests to evaluate how healthy the NCMF employees’ eyes are.

The tests included in the eye exam were eye muscle test, visual acuity test, refraction assessment, and slit-lamp examination.

In his message during the opening program of the activity, Dr. Catalino Jadoc advised patients to have their eyes checked every year.

"Having your eyes checked regularly can also detect other non-related eye diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer, multiple sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis."

“Eye check-up is not only important for your vision but for your overall health and well-being as well," he added.

For her part, Dr. Marge Jadoc, the team manager, “We are often the first responders when it comes to vision problems. People usually come to us and have their eyes checked for possible issues.”

"Activities such as this is very rewarding because we get to be instrumental in them achieving better eyesight.” Ernesto Angeles Alcanzare, President and CEO of Yes for Peace, Incorporated (YFPI) hailed the Jadoc couple for undertaking the activity,

"Doctors Lino and Marge have shown how far the Yes for Peace - Bayanihan ng Bayan spirit can go in serving the Filipino people."

Looking forward, Alcanzare said, "I hope and pray that they will serve as an example and inspire other Yes for Peace KaBayanihans to undertake similar activities to directly serve the people." (PIA-NCR)
