CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) -- The National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) recognized the 10 Indigenous Peoples (IPs) in the recently concluded “Paggawad ng Parangal sa mga Natatanging Katutubo ng Mimaropa” held at the Provincial Capitol Complex, this city.
Present along with the NCIP during the awarding ceremonies were JCI Makati and Pitmasters Foundation, Inc. where the 10 IP leaders were properly awarded and recognized for their contributions in their respective communities.
NCIP Regional Director Marie Grace Pascua explained the significance of the event. She said such event that showed concern of the government is a sign of manifestation of care and recognition of the government to IPs in the region.
The awarded leaders received plaque of recognition, flat screen television sets and P5,000 cash assistance from the JCU and Pitmasters Foundation.
As part of gratitude and support of the Pitmasters Foundation, Atty. Caroline Cruz of said foundation announced during the event that they will donate a Level 1 ambulance to the provincial government. Atty. Cruz said the ambulance will greatly help the government in responding to emergency cases and needs in the province.
In behalf of Gov. Humerlito A. Dolor, Provincial Social Welfare Officer Zarah Magboo expressed her thanks to the foundation for the provision of ambulance to the provincial government.
