MANILA, (PIA) -- Yes for Peace Bayanihan ng Bayan Secretary General and concurrent National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) Commissioner Yusoph J. Mando has received the prestigious Most Outstanding Public Servant Award from the Guardians Magistrate Advocator for Democracy International Inc (GMADII) and Luzviminda International Foundation.
The Philippine’s Most Outstanding Men in Public Service Award is conferred to an individual for performance of an extraordinary act or public service and consistent demonstration of exemplary ethical behavior and observance of the norms of behavior for public servants.
Mando was recognized for his laudable efforts, which contribute significantly to the achievement of the Commission’s mandate to serve the Muslim Filipinos and even non-Muslims alike, including his staunch advocacy for peace and development.
Other awardees were Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Undersecretary Epimaco Densing, Representative Omar Albano Fajardo, Atty. Ariel Inton, Engr. Nhadzker Lakubul Junaid and other government officials and persons in uniform.
The awardees were chosen for their exemplary behaviour or conduct displayed particularly on the norms of public service: commitment to public interest; professionalism; justness and sincerity; political neutrality; responsiveness to public; nationalism and patriotism; commitment to democracy; and simple living.
Another criterion considered was the impact of their accomplishments based on the problems addressed, savings generated, people and office benefited and transactions facilitated.
Among Mando's major tangible accomplishments were hundreds of relief giving missions and community services, which have already been completed while others are still on-going.
Leading the awarding ceremonies was Hon Estela G. Bulacan, President, GMADII, and Hon. Maria Liza F. Lorenzo who challenged the recipients to live by the expectations of the public and to continue to foster public service.
Mando was appointed by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte as Commissioner of the NCMF on 17 August 2020 for a term of four years.
Prior to his appointment, he has been active in humanitarian missions, peace and conflict resolution and inter faith dialogue.
Service for the people has been his personal long-time advocacy.
The adoption and refinement of Yes for Peace – Bayanihan ng Bayan was incorporated into the national action plan of the National Task Force to End the Local Armed Conflicts submitted by Secretary Hermogenes C. Esperon and approved by President Duterte.
For his part, Ernesto Angeles Alcanzare, President and Chief Executive Officer of Yes for Peace, Incorporated, a non-government peace and development organization hailed, “We are proud that the Secretary General of Yes for Peace – Bayanihan ng Bayan is a public servant worth emulating and whose track record of sincere commitment and service to his fellowmen is being recognized even by non-Muslim groups.”
“Indeed, Secretary General Mando can usher in the support of Muslims and non-Muslims alike in preventing violent extremism and terrorism in the country,” he added.
“After all, armed conflicts in the country have many facets apart from communism,” he further said. (PIA-NCR)
