Two most wanted persons nabbed in QC

CALOOCAN CITY, (PIA) – Two most wanted persons were nabbed in Quezon City during a manhunt operation, Friday.

Police General Guillermo Lorenzo T Eleazar, Chief PNP identified the suspects as Julieta Gomez y Tawide alias Tina, 39 years old and Niezel Velasco y DuasoI alias Mary Jane Velasco, 39 years old.

Citing reports from Police Major General Albert Ignatius D Ferro, Director, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), Eleazar said that manhunt operation and service of Warrant of Arrest was conducted by joint elements of Regional Field Unit NCR (Lead), QCDFU RFU NCR, RID-PRO 13, PS9-QCPD, and AFP Intelligence counterparts.

The two suspects have outstanding Warrants of Arrest for the crime of murder and two cases of attempted murder under Criminal Case Nos. 8113-20, 20-3747 and CR-2021-84 with no bail issued by Judge Edwin M. Malazarte, RTC, 11th Judicial Region, Br 27, Tandag City, Surigao Del Sur, Judge Lilibeth O. Ladaga, Presiding Judge, RTC, 11th Judicial Region, Br 28, Lianga, Surigao Del Sur and Judge Fernando R. Tudalan Jr., Presiding Judge, RTC, 10th Judicial Region, Br 34, Cabadbaran City, Agusan Del Norte , with no bail, PHP100,000.00 and PHP120,000.00 bail recommended respectively.

Confiscated from the suspects’ possession were 1 unit 9mm Parabellum with SN OSL123156, 1 pc 9mm magazine with 14 pcs live ammo, 10 pcs barrel of rifle, eight pieces  subversive documents (books and booklet), one piece New People’s Army (NPA) flag, 1000 pieces live ammo of caliber 7.62, one piece travelling bag color black, four pieces upper receiver of firearm, four pieces lower receiver of firearm, four pieces bolt carrier (included in one wrap), one piece hand grenade smoke riot, one piece  M26 hand grenade (practice), one piece hand grenade PRB 423, one unit cellphone Vivo 11 color black, one unit cellphone Huawei color blue.

According to report, the inventory of the confiscated items were witnessed by the Barangay Captain Joseph P Mahusay and Barangay Tanod Zane M Cezar, both of Barangay Pansol, Quezon City.

Eleazar said Updated Periodic Status Reports of known CPP-NPA personalities in the CARAGA Region identified Gomez as Secretary of the Regional Urban Committee; Deputy Secretary of the Regional White Area Committee; Member of Regional Tax Implementing Group; and Member of the North Eastern Mindanao, Regional Party Committee (NEMRPC).

Gomez is accused in six separate criminal cases for Murder (2 cases), Attempted Murder (two counts), violation of International Humanitarian Law, and Attempted Homicide. She is listed in police records as the 2nd Most Wanted Person in CARAGA Region while Velasco is identified as Regional Liason Officer of NEMRPC and is facing criminal charges for Attempted Murder.

Gomez is accused in the Murder of Zaldy Martinez and Datu Bernardino Astudillo both civilian Manobo tribesmen and former NPA members on March 19, 2020 in San Miguel, Surigao Del Sur.

She is also accused in the shooting of PFC Junreo Cornelio and CAFGU militiaman Emiliano Sayot Jr in Bgy Poblacion 2, Santiago, Agusan Del Norte in Nov 21, 2020 and the wounding of CAFGU militiaman Mariel Doliano on Jan 18, 2018 in San Agustin, Surigao Del Sur.

The NEMRPC of the CPP-NPA is tagged as responsible in a series of arson and sabotage incidents on industries and infrastructure in the Caraga region, mostly targeting business and construction companies that are the subject of extortion activities, the Chief PNP said.

The CPP-NPA NEMRPC figured in yet another incident of arson and sabotage on Thursday (July 15) at the CAGA 3 Platinum Groups of Metal Corporation (PGMC) Sitio Kinalablaban, Brgy. Cagdianao, Claver, Surigao del Norte when some 20 communist terrorists belonging to Guerilla Front 16 led by a certain Jacob burned six backhoe excavators of CKDI and Queens Contractors.

Eleazar said the arrest of Gomez and Velasco is the product of Case Operational Plan (COPLAN) “Tina” approved by PRO13 Regional Director, PBGEN Romeo Caramat upon recommendation of the 7-man Regional Special Project Review Board and subsequently revalidated by the National Special Projects Review Board of the Directorate for Intelligence.

“I commend our personnel for another successful extensive manhunt and surveillance operations to bring Wanted Persons to the folds of justice and answer for the crimes they committed.
