Capiz bikers tell rebels to surrender

ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA) -- An early morning cyclists in Cuartero town for the "Bike For Peace and Justice" offered their ride to end of the local communist armed conflict.

"Hope our group can convince the rebels to surrender to start a new and peaceful life," said a member of Cuartero Cyclists Club.

They were joined by some members of the Philippine Army's 12 Infantry Battalion and Cuartero Municipal Police Station.

The nationwide bike-for-a-cause was also carried out in all other towns and in Roxas City to call for peace and justice for all the victims of the Communist Party of the Philippines - New People's Army - National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF), especially for cousin cyclists Kieth and Nolven Absalon who were murdered by NPA terrorists in Masbate.

The activity marks the 40th day of the Abaslon's untimely death due to gunshots and landmine explosion planted by the NPA rebels.

The participants, mostly from various cyclist and some motorcyce groups, also signed a manifesto to condemn the communist terrorist groups and the threats they pose to the right to life, right to family and right to have true and lasting peace.

The manifesto also called for justice for all their victims of human rights' abuses and atrocities. (PIA Capiz)
