Mayor Isko highlights Manila's gains in COVID response

CALOOCAN CITY, (PIA) -- Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso has shared his city's major accomplishments in getting ahead of COVID-19 during his 3rd State of the City Address (SOCA) at the Manila City Hall recently.

Domagoso cited Manila's proactive response to the unprecedented health challenges in the city, including the construction of the 4,402-square meter wide COVID-19 field hospital along with the capacity building of other six communal district hospitals by its procurements of essential equipment.

Moreover, he also highlighted the city's molecular testing laboratory and the COVID-19 vaccine storage facility at the Sta. Ana Hospital as among the achieved priorities, as these projects furthered the sustainable pandemic response of the city.

He also made mention and thanked Manila's augmented healthcare workforce, who worked tirelessly in the frontlines.

Mayor Isko Moreno also brought into view the expeditious vaccine rollout in Manila City LGU while expressing thanks to the whole-of-government approach that the Philippines is geared towards. As he delivers his transparency report before the other present city officials.

The local government of Manila has nearly breached its 1 million mark with 656,759 administered inoculations for the first dose and 302,278 for the second dose.

Meanwhile, the local chief executive pronounced the future housing projects of the Manila city government in light of the envisioned San Sebastian, San Lazaro, and Pedro Gil residences.

Once completed, the said in-city housing is inclined towards giving constituents an additional 1,000 units aside from the halfway constructed Binondominium and Tondominiums 1 and 2 which are targeted to be inaugurated between the timeframe of December 2021 to January 2022.
