POEA expedites online OFW employment certificates

QUEZON CITY  (PIA) -- The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) now implements the POEA Online Processing System for Balik Manggagawa (POPS-BaM) to speed up issuing Overseas Employment Certificates (OECs) to returning overseas workers.

“Magmula po sa dati naming BM [Balik Manggagawa] online platform meron na po kaming tinatawag na POPS-BaM o yung POEA Online Processing System.  Ito po yung bagong sistema na full-blown po na taga POEA ang gumawa, (From the former ‘BM’ online platform, we also have the POPS-BaM or the POEA Online Processing System. This is the new full-blown system developed by POEA personnel,)” said POEA Administrator Bernard P. Olalia during the #Laging HandaPH Public Briefing.

Returning workers from other countries who just spent vacation in the Philippines and will go back to continue their existing employment contract may avail of the system.

Overseas workers who have terminated their contract and will renew their employment from the same job site may also get an online appointment after logging in to the system.

They are directed to transfer their existing records under the old system through an e-Registration account to facilitate the transfer of current BM records.

This will generate an OEC Exemption to BM workers returning to the same employer. In contrast, change of employer or job sites shall be directed to set an online appointment to document the changes in employment data. (ARR/PIA-IDPD
