NSPPO accounts triumph in fight vs illegal activities

CATARMAN, Northern Samar (PIA) -- The Northern Samar Police Provincial Office (NSPPO) presented to the local media its operational accomplishments in the fight against illegal activities during the media forum held at NSPPO Multipurpose Hall recently.

In the campaign against illegal drugs, of the 41 operations, there were 43 personalities arrested, seized 13.70 grams of shabu and 11.7 grams of marijuana amounting to P129,368 for the period July 2020 to July 2021.

On illegal gambling, there were 719 persons arrested in 229 operations conducted and confiscated P295,089 worth of bet money with 229 cases filed in court.

For illegal fishing, there were 102 persons arrested in 28 operations conducted. The NSPPO was able to confiscate fishing boats and other paraphernalia with a total value of P1,570,410.

The fight against illegal logging posed a real challenge according to Col. Arnel Apud, the NSPPO provincial director.

For the same period, NSPPO was able to arrest 258 persons in 139 operations, confiscated 60,692.83 board feet of logs/lumber with a total value of P5,672,310.60.

Apud warned the public that they will continue to strictly enforce the law and let the perpetrators be penalized whoever they are.

On the other hand, Provincial Information Officer Allen Berbon expressed gratitude for the media forum as he reiterated and emphasized the power of information. He said informed individual can make good decisions, and on the mandate of transparency, people should know the real situation and what the government agencies are doing.

The media forum was conducted in line with the observance of the 26th Police Community Relations Month anchored on the theme, “Pulisya at Mamamayan, BARANGAYanihan sa Hamon ng Pandemya at Laban sa Krimen.” (NBQ/AND/PIA-8/Northern Samar)
