PUERTO PRINCESA, Palawan, (PIA) -- As many as 16,025 individuals have been fully vaccinated or have received the first and second doses of COVID-19 vaccine in the city since the COVID-19 vaccination roll-out began on March 7, 2021. This is according to Puerto Princesa City COVAC data.

This number is equivalent to eight percent (8%) of the city’s total 201,000 eligible residents who must be vaccinated to achieve 70% herd immunity.

The 201,000 individuals are residents aged 18 years old and above and they also make up 63% of the city’s total population.

Meanwhile, about seven percent of the 201,000 eligible residents have been vaccinated with the first dose. This does not include the 2,500 people from the A4 priority group who were vaccinated on July 27 and the 1,500 people from the A4 priority group also who were vaccinated on July 28.

On July 21, the first batch of AstraZeneca vaccines purchased by the city government began to arrive and were used to vaccinate those in the A4 priority group or the so-called essential/economic frontliners in the city.

Mayor Lucilo R. Bayron also said recently that the city government has purchased about 200,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines and that only the previous 5,700 doses have arrived and the next delivery of vaccines is also awaiting.
