CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) – Under the skills training program of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), 25 Mangyan residents of Brgy. Panaytayan, Mansalay recently finished their eight-day training in solar light assembly and installation.
With the assistance of the local government unit, particularly the Public Employment Service Office (PESO), the skills training program was extended to Indigenous Peoples (IPs) of the said town.
Mayor Ferdinand Maliwanag said the skills training will help provide better job opportunities to IPs.
All IP graduates received solar kits set, training certificates and allowance as their initial capital as they start their work on solar light assembly and installation in their community.
Mayor Maliwanag furthered that more skills trainings from TESDA will be conducted for the IPs in the near future. The conduct of skills training was a project of the local government to TESDA and was immediately granted by TESDA Mimaropa Regional Director Engr. Manuel B. Wong. (LTC/PIA-OrMin)
