PASIG CITY, (PIA) -- The Metro Manila Council (MMC) shall impose 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. curfew hours when the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) takes effect at the National Capital Region (NCR) on August 6.

MMDA Chairperson Benhur Abalos said the adjustment on curfew hours was approved unanimously by the 17 Metro Manila local chief executives due to the rising number of COVID-19 Delta Variant cases in NCR.

“The new curfew hours had been unanimously voted and agreed upon by the Metro Manila mayors,” Atty. Abalos said.

MMDA Resolution No. 21-16, Series of 2021 cited that “in view of the ECQ, as warranted by the rising number of COVID-19 Delta Variant cases in the NCR, there is an urgent need to regulate the mobility and movement of persons while at the same time ramping up the vaccination efforts of the National Government and the Local Government Units during the said period in order to broaden population protection.”

The standardized and unified curfew hours across the cities and municipality of NCR will last until August 20.

Authorized Persons Outside Residence (APOR), as specified by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) and individuals who will be vaccinated shall be exempted from the curfew hours provided that they present appropriate documentation to authorities, such as their quarantine passes used during previous ECQ.

The MMDA Chairman, meanwhile, leaves to the Metro Manila local government units the decision on whether or not to impose a liquor ban in their respective jurisdiction. Valenzuela, Mandaluyong, Parañaque, Pasay, Navotas, Pateros, Quezon City, and San Juan earlier announced they will prohibit sale of liquor and other alcoholic beverages during the ECQ.
