CAMP KANGLEON, Palo, Leyte (PIA) – Police Brigadier General Rommel Bernardo A. Cabagnot has assumed as the new regional director of the Police Regional Office in Eastern Visayas (PRO 8) on Wednesday, August 4, 2021.
This after PBGen. Ronaldo F. De Jesus, who retired from police service on same day, relinquished his position as regional director in a turnover of command ceremony held at the police camp in Palo, Leyte with Police Lieutenant General Bernabe Balba, commander of the Area Police Command Visayas, as guest of honor and speaker.
In his short speech, Cabagnot said he is committed to continue the programs introduced by his predecessor guided by the principle of honest and genuine public service by imposing strict discipline, reform and internal cleansing.
“I will also personally assess the operational readiness of our men on the ground,” he said.
Under his leadership, Cabagnot assured to the men and women of PRO 8 that there will be no new and impossible directive.
“Our rule is simple. Just do your job and do it in a proper way. Just do your mandate with utmost dedication and commitment,” he said
While the PNP is continuously addressing the challenges on criminality, illegal drugs, insurgency and terrorism and the global pandemic, he urged his men to be more intense in their efforts to counter such through an “intensified cleanliness policy” (ICP) program as he expressed optimism to accomplish their mission faster and better.
He also reminded his men on his strong desire to go against the scalawags, the erring police officers and vowed no mercy for those who destroy the ranks, the organization and the country as he looks forward to a healthy working relationship with the PRO 8 personnel.
“I will serve you with all my heart but I cannot do this alone, so I humbly ask for your prayers, your support and your cooperation with the help of our community and our God Almighty to have a peaceful, productive and progressive Eastern Visayas region,” Cabagnot said.
Cabagnot was then the Chief Regional Staff of the National Capital Region Police Office. He also served as the PNP Provincial Director in Samar in 2015. (LDL/CBA/PIA-8)
