CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) -- At least 91 famer beneficiaries from different barangays of this city recently received farm inputs from the city government under its Angat Kabuhayan sa Agrikultura Program (AKAP).
AKAP aims to boost rural productivity and increase farmers’ income opportunities especially this time of pandemic.
AKAP concentrates on agriculture and food production which serves as a flagship program of the local government, being handled by the City Agricultural Services Department (CASD).
According to Mayor Arnan C. Panaligan, the project components of integrated food production and high value crops include vermicomposting, vegetable production, corn production, banana production, calamansi production and native chicken raising project.
Each of the 91 beneficiary families received farm inputs like seeds, knapsack sprayer, organic urea fertilizer, garden tools and wheel barrow, vermicompost, plantlets and budded plants.
City Agriculturist Lorelein Sevilla led the implementation of all existing projects under AKAP, which is one of the priority programs of the local government. (LTC/PIA-OrMin)
