BULUAN, Maguindanao (PIA) -- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) recently released over P900,000 in financial assistance for displaced workers in Maguindanao.

DOLE Regional Office XII, in partnership with the provincial government of Maguindanao started on Monday, August 9 the rollout of DOLE TUPAD (Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers) at the Provincial Capitol Extension Office here.

About 187 displaced workers from different municipalities who rendered community work for a minimum of 10 days each received P5,000 from the government as payment for their salaries.

According to Governor Bai Mariam Sangki-Mangudadatu, most of the selected beneficiaries were former OFWs, tricycle drivers, laborers, vendors, and farmers.

“The provincial government of Maguindanao would like to extend its gratitude to DOLE and Secretary Silvestre Bello III for the assistance to our constituents in Maguindanao. This is very timely and a big help especially for workers whose source of income were really affected by the restrictions and limited job opportunities brought about by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic,” Mangudadatu said.

The distribution of said financial assistance was administered by Governor Mangudadatu, DOLE 12 Asst. Regional Director Arlene Bisnon and other local officials. (PIA)
