GENERAL SANTOS CITY (PIA) -- Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar said the construction of the 3.7 kilometers Panguil Bay Bridge in Northern Mindanao will be the longest bridge in the Philippines.
Andanar made this statement during his interview on Tuesday with Radio Mindanao Network (RMN) Gensan’s anchor Emir Bariquit in the latter’s Straight to the Point radio program.
He said Panguil Bay Bridge will surpass San Juanico Bridge, which connects Samar and Leyte in Visayas, as the longest in the country once it is completed.
“The longest bridge for the longest time is kining San Juanico Bridge. Pero pagkahuman ning atong Panguil Bay Bridge nga magkonektar sa Lanao del Norte ug Misamis Occidental mao na ni siya ang longest bridge sa tibuok Pilipinas,” the Secretary said.

The construction of Panguil Bay Bridge is part of President Rodrigo Duterte’s Build, Build, Build program which is seen as the highlight of his legacy.
Andanar said the PCOO recently launched the Duterte Legacy campaign to exhibit the administration’s efforts to bring about real change to the lives of Filipinos.
“The Duterte Legacy Campaign humanizes the accomplishments of the Duterte administration in different sectors of governance. It looks into how these accomplishments directly impact and affect Filipinos, especially those in the grassroots.”
The PCOO Chief said that with the legacy campaign, people will know the importance of choosing a leader with political will especially that the 2022 national elections is fast approaching.
“That is why the legacy campaign is very important para ang pilion sa atong mga katawhan sa 2022 national elections katong kandidato na pwede tapatan o higitan pa ang nabuhat ni President Rodrigo Duterte sa iyahang termino for the past 6 years.”

Duterte’s governance, he said is anchored on “Tapang and Malasakit” and his six years accomplishments as president will serve as benchmark for the next administration.
Meanwhile, aside from the Panguil Bay Bridge, Andanar also mentioned other infrastructure projects like the 8-kilometer Cebu-Cordova link.
“Nindot, gwapo kaayo nga (It is very nice, awesome) bridge, one of the best bridges. I think it is going to be the most gargantuan and the most massive infrastructure that we will have in a very very long time,” he said. (PGFruylan/PIA-Gensan)
