MAFAR intensifies information drive on halal food industry

COTABATO CITY August (PIA)--The BARMM’s Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR), through its Halal Program and Development has intensified its information drive to educate the farmers on halal food industry.

This came after MAFAR oriented  165 farmers from the municipalities of Guindulungan, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Datu Anggal Midtimbang, Talayan, Datu Saudi Ampatuan, and Datu Salibo in the province of Maguindanao on halal production and advocacy last week.

Participants of the said activity were informed on the concept of halal, halal program in BARMM, halal certification, and halal food regulatory system.

The activity is one of the banner programs of MAFAR. It aims to improve the knowledge and awareness of the participants on the concept of halal.

Moreover, MAFAR Director II for Agriculture Services Engr. Ismail Guiamel said that the activity is also in accordance with the directives of BARMM Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim, which is to bring the government closer to the community.

Earlier this month, MAFAR also conducted an information caravan to Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) in Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao that aims to inform ARBs on what programs and services they can avail to have sustainable farming and agribusiness practices. (With reports from MAFAR-BARMM).
