Pantawid replacements come from 2019 list, says prov’l link

MAASIN CITY (PIA) -- Those who will take the place of households who graduated from the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), will be based on the 2019 Listahanan 2 and 3 results of the National Household Targeting System (NHTS).

According to Riza Basalio, 4Ps provincial link, her office is waiting for the list as the source document on which to base the new batch of Pantawid beneficiaries to replace the graduating 4Ps this year.

Out of more than 18,000 household 4Ps of the province, Basalio said 528 of them had graduated thus far, in addition to the graduation schedules to be held sooner for the towns of Padre Burgos and Libagon.

Their removal was decided after having been thoroughly assessed as having reached some degree of self-sufficiency, she added.

At a provincial advisory council meeting on DSWD programs and services attended by heads or representatives of other national line government agencies, Basalio said these agencies, including the local government units, will take over those who had graduated through the Kilos Unlad social case management strategy.

Among the agencies present during the meeting were the DOLE, DAR, TESDA, DTI, DepEd-province, and DOST, each one committing to work out and coordinate with each other for follow-up programs that benefit the pulled out 4Ps households.

In the meeting, Basalio discussed the new 4Ps law, Republic Act 11320, which was signed in 2019 and will be the basis for implementation henceforth.

The law stipulates a slightly higher financial aid to Pantawid beneficiaries with the continued imposition of existing set conditions for the concerned family, and a mandated membership lifespan limit of only seven years.

New entrants who are taken from the downloaded results of the NHTS survey mentioned earlier will be managed according to the law that has institutionalized the government’s prime poverty-reduction program, Basalio further said.

Also in the same meeting, Gov. Damian Mercado expressed his full support as usual to the programs of the DSWD as many of these programs yielded good results. (LDL/MMP/PIA-8/Southern Leyte)
