KIDAPAWAN CITY, North Cotabato (PIA) -- A total of 120 youth here recently participated in the Youth in Agriculture Forum to increase awareness on the importance of agriculture and to encourage youth to take active stance in food security.
The activity was spearheaded by the Sangguniang Kabataan Federation of the city. Participants include members of the Sangguniang Kabataan, Supreme Student Council presidents, Indigenous People (IP) youth, Moro youth, and members of the Kidapawan City Youth Council.
SK Federation president and ex-officio councilor Cenn Teena Taynan underscored the importance of the event noting the role of the youth in pushing for sustainable agriculture.
Aside from information on agriculture, the participants were also oriented on new technology for food production.
Meanwhile, City Mayor Joseph Evangelista expressed gratefulness for the conduct of a significant activity in line with the celebration of the Linggo ng Kabataan. The local chief executive assured the youth that his administration is in full support to the endeavors of youth organizations in the city, particularly those in the promotion of agriculture to attain food sustainability.
