CALOOCAN CITY, (PIA) -- The National Government is keen on putting up a memorial wall to commemorate the heroism of healthcare and frontline workers battling the COVID-19 pandemic before December of this year.
National Task Force (NTF) against COVID-19 and Vaccine Czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. showed the proposal for the creation of a “COVID-19 frontliners memorial wall” to be built by the entrance of the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Taguig City.
A memorial wall is a wall typically engraved to commemorate a number of people with something in common, and often with names.
In President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s public address on Monday evening, Aug. 30, Sec. Galvez reported that the memorial wall may contain paintings, murals, and other artistic designs to honor the frontliners for their sacrifices amid the global public health emergency.
“Nandoon po ‘yung ano, ‘yung mga pwede painting siya or pwede siya ‘yung tinatawag na murals. Iyong mural na ‘yun it will tell a story about what happened and about the heroism of our doctors and nurses, and our personnel.”
Galvez disclosed that the project will also involve the Department of Public Works and Highway (DPWH) and the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA).
“So iyon po ang ina-ano po namin at (So that is what we are working on) we will involve BCDA and also DPWH, and we will make it soonest possible time parang ginagawa namin sa (like what we are doing with the) modular hospital. We will do it, maybe 41 days or more or less two months or even less than three months. So before December po tatapusin po namin po ito (we would have finished it).” (PIA-NCR)
