“Resource persons from the academe, civil service organizations, and the government, were invited to share their knowledge and expertise to help the development of competencies that relate to specific functions within the LDRRMOs,” Obligado said.
“This also aims to create connections and network among the different stakeholders in providing more capacity building partnership and program that will benefit the institutions,” he added.
“This will enable OCD-NCR to more proactively respond to requests for technical assistance and capacity building through coordination with LDRRMOs and stakeholders who are able to support their capacity and capability upgrade requirements,” he further said.
To recall, the first series of webinars was conducted by OCD-NCR in July of this year as part of the activities for the National Disaster Resilience Month.
Obligado said the second series is now in line with the observance of the International Day of Disaster Risk Reduction, which coincides with the ASEAN Day for Disaster Management every 13th of October.
“The IDDRR is an opportunity to acknowledge the progress being made towards reducing disaster risks, and loses in lives and livelihoods, and health,” he said.
“In this webinar series, we have grouped together a combination of related topics to come up with a theme for each day,” he added.
Day 1 will have topics under the theme of Disaster Preparedness and Response with its three sessions including Community-Based DRRM Project of the Catholic Relief Services; a discourse for the Standards on Search and Rescue; and a lecture on Volunteer Management.
Day 2 will be themed with topics under Disaster Response, Rehabilitation and Recovery. There will be a sharing of COVID-19 response, recovery, and rehabilitation efforts, challenges, and best practices from the LDRRMOs.
In Day 3, the webinar will focus on Disaster Prevention and Mitigation and Disaster Preparedness.
