NAVAL, Biliran (PIA) – The Department of Science and Technology 8 (DOST 8) – Regional Standards and Testing Laboratory (RSTL) recently launched DOST-Biliran as RSTL Sample Receiving Station in the province.
Quality Manager Emmanuel Lagdamen and Engr. Marcelino Nicer, Calibration Center chief of DOST 8-RSTL, with DOST Biliran Chief Romeo Dignos and staff joined the RSTL information caravan around the province during its launching activity on October 14.
Part of the RSTL information caravan was distribution of leaflets to potential clients such as gasoline stations, pharmacies, and local government units. An on-site calibration was also conducted in a select gasoline station and at the Biliran Provincial Hospital as part of the activity.
Starting October 18, DOST-Biliran received samples of foods for microbiology testing; water and waste water for physic-chemical testing; and weights, scales, thermometers, and pressure gauge for calibration. The provincial office will take the samples to RSTL-DOST8 in Palo, Leyte, for testing and calibration, according to Dignos.
The initiative aims at helping Biliranons save travel time and expenses, and spare them from the inconvenience of travel protocols and requirements in submitting samples to the RSTL especially this time of pandemic.
Meanwhile, DOST-Biliran continues to implement its programs on livelihood trainings, financial assistance to SMEs, and scholarship programs, according to Dignos. (LDL/MLT/PIA-8 Biliran)
