COTABATO CITY (PIA) - The Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) will deploy RxBox, a multi-component medical device designed to provide better access to life-saving health care services, in the Bangsamoro region’s geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas, the Ministry announced on Monday.
According to Yzel Andrew Aron, MOST regional coordinator, they have conducted several tests before the deployment of 11 units to rural health units (RHU) in Maguindanao and Lanao del Sur.
"We conducted device re-testing to ensure that the RxBox devices are calibrated for vital signs reading, capturing and monitoring of patients’ health concerns,” Aron said.
He added that this telemedicine device will guarantee and provide healthcare technologies and assistance to isolated areas in the region.
The said devices are ready for deployment in December 2021 to identified RHUs in the provinces mentioned according to MOST.
The RXBox captures blood pressure, pulse oximation, measure body temperature, and assesses uterine contraction strength during delivery.
It can also detect distress to both mother and baby using maternal tocometer, measure fetal heart rate using fetal heart monitor, and monitor tracing of hearts movement that detects diseases using ECG.
Another batch of devices will be tested and deployed soon to the remaining strategic areas in the region. (with reports from MOST)
