CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro -- President Rodrigo Roa Duterte is set to inaugurate the coastal access road at Calapan Port on November 18.
The project was completed on August 9, 2021 under the ‘Build, Build, Build’ program, the administration’s infrastructure development plan being implemented all over the country.
The construction of coastal roads and the provision of port lighting system were included in the project which started on March 14, 2019 for a period of 450 calendar days based on the original contract duration.
According to the report of the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), the project with an area of 6,728.98 square meters and costing P140,960,141.66 aims to address the traffic congestion and provide convenience to hauling cargo trucks traversing southern part of the province using Suqui-Parang-Palhi-Sapul roads.
The source of funds is from the PPA's corporate budget and was undertaken by the joint venture contractors: Khan Kon Chi Construction and Development, Incorporated and Great Swiss Metal Builders, Incorporated.
Meanwhile, other PPA projects in Oriental Mindoro composed the following: Back Up Area Passenger Terminal Building and Roro Ramp in Balatero, Puerto Galera, P83.50M; Bansud Port Improvement, P36.72M; Bulalacao Port Improvement, P36.03M; Mansalay Port Expansion Project, P137.91M; and Roxas Port Expansion Project, P114.99M.
Likewise, under the PPA jurisdiction is the completion of Abra de Ilog Port Expansion Project and Abra de Ilog Ports Operations Building costing P80.15M and P83.50M, respectively. These projects are both located in the province of Occidental Mindoro. (LTC/PIA-OrMin)
