BJMP continues urging PDLs to get COVID-19 vaccine

QUEZON CITY, (PIA) -- Committee on Justice Vice Chair Fidel Nograles urged the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) not to stop convincing Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) to get the COVID-19 vaccine.

Following this, the House representative praised the BJMP's swift action to vaccinate PDLs with COVID-19 vaccines.

He said it is gratifying that the BJMP ensures humane treatment of PDLs and ensures the right to health of prisoners.

The BJMP announced that of the 125,082 prisoners, 91% of them or 114,570 PDLs have already been vaccinated.

Of this number, 76,084 PDLs had already completed a dose of COVID-19 vaccine while 38,486 had received the first dose.

Flu vaccines were also given to 85,816 inmates while pneumococcal vaccines were given to 3,901 prisoners.

The legislator hopes that the BJMP will continue to talk to other PDLs who are reluctant to get vaccinated. (PIA-NCR)
