BUTUAN CITY -- The Commission on Human Rights (CHR)-Caraga will mark the 73rd anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights this coming December 10, 2021.
The Declaration was adopted and proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in Paris on December 10, 1948, and it articulates fundamental rights and freedom for all.
This year’s celebration centers on the theme, “Pagkakapantay-pantay: Isulong ang Mga Karapatang Pantao sa Panahon ng Pandemya,” which relates to the importance of a human rights-based approach to development as the best way to reduce inequalities and resume our path towards the realization of the 2030 Agenda.
The scheduled activities of the said celebration are the following:
- December 1, 8:00 AM - NHRCW National Kick-Off Activity, via CHR Facebook Live
- December 6 Monday - Convocation: Panata sa Karapatang Pantao by Respective Agencies
- December 7, 1:30 PM - Safe Spaces Forum for LGUs, via Zoom
- December 7-9 - Focus Group Discussion with IP Communities in Bislig City
- December 9, 8:00 AM - Human Rights Quiz Show, CHR Regional Office
- December 9, 9:30 AM - CHRE MOU Signing with Don Jose Ecleo Memorial Foundation College of Science and Technology (DJEMFCST), via Zoom
- December 10, 8:00 AM - Human Rights Action Center (HRAC) Legal Caravan, Carmen, Agusan del Norte
- December 10, 3:00 PM - National Human Rights Consciousness Week (NHRCW) Regional Culmination, CHR Regional Office
