Resumption of face-to-face classes in QC follows protocols

CALOOCAN CITY, (PIA) -- Students, teachers, and non-teaching personnel who participated in the pilot face-to-face classes on Monday were required to follow various health protocols set by the Quezon City Government to ensure safety.

The teachers and personnel must all be fully-vaccinated while the students must come from a fully-vaccinated household (the adult and teenager members of the family are vaccinated). They must also reside within their school’s area.

All learners and teachers and personnel will also have to undergo antigen testing. Our City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU) will be going in their schools to test everyone to make sure that no one is infected with the virus,” Mayor Joy Belmonte said.

According to the Schools Division Office (SDO), a total of 224 students in the Kinder to Grade 3 levels and 36 teachers and staff will join the resumption of face to face classes in Payatas B Annex Elementary School.

For Bagong Silangan Elementary School, 388 Grade 3 learners and 55 teachers and non-teaching personnel will participate in the in-person classes on Monday. They will be divided into two batches, morning and afternoon session.

Everyone will have to go through a strict health check and monitoring every day. Safety officers will be roaming around the school compound to make sure that health protocols are being implemented.

Each classroom will also be disinfected after every session.

Other individuals, including the parents and guardians, will be prohibited from entering the institution’s premises. The city also asked for the assistance of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) and barangay enforcers to avoid crowding near the school.

As for Bagong Silangan Elementary Schools which is also being used as a barangay vaccination site, separate entrance and exit points are established for the students.

Each class will last for about four hours. A staggered arrival, breaks, and dismissal time will also be implemented to avoid crowding. Water and small packed foods such as biscuits are allowed. (PIA-NCR)
